Event: Feast of Lanterns

Lore and Overview
Introduced in January 2019, the Feast of Lanterns celebrates a holiday celebrated in the lands of Kara-Tur, which are modeled on the real world lantern and moon festivals of China, Japan, and other countries. The Shou and Kozakura countries have sent emissaries to Neverwinter for the festival.

I couldn't find details on the event in the Kara-Tur boxed set, other than it being celebrated during the month of Tsou in the first 30 days of the year, so this may be largely a new creation by the Neverwinter team based on the name.

Event Format
The 2019 event ran for one week, from Jan 31 to Feb 7.
The 2020 event ran Jan 30 to Feb 6 and was the Year of the Rat. Details specific to 2020 can be found here.

"Event Quests

Nightly Fireworks - Help the Kozakuran pyrobolist out by setting of fireworks near the Hall of Justice!

Red Envelopes - Deliver red envelopes to fledgling adventurer NPCs in Protector’s Enclave!

Comfort Dogs - The dog-loving Kozakuran envoy wants your help comforting dogs startled by his fireworks. The first completion of this quest rewards the /pet emote. Tip: Scared pups may be hard to spot so keep your ears open for their whimpers to locate them!"

"Adventurers will have a chance to celebrate the lunar New Year and earn event currencies (Boar Coins and Lunar Coins) by helping out with the festival. In addition to Lunar Coin Packs containing event currencies, new far eastern hair styles and a new katana-wielding yojimbo companion are available in the Zen Market for a limited time during the festivities. Check them out before they’re gone!"

  • Boar Shoat Companions - 12 Boar Coins
  • New Year's Boar Mount - 240 Lunar Coins
  • Mochi, Niangoa, Fireworks - for Lunar Coins

The Zen store will have the purple Yojimbo Companion (active bonus: +4% Deflect chance; when you take damage your damage delt is increased by 4% and your deflect chance is reduced by 4% for 10 seconds).

The event page shows two new hair styles.
